ARTIST STATEMENT
Interior spaces, landscape and the lyrical intertwining of flora and fauna provide the framework for the largest paintings. The canvases are physical, vividly colored, intensely patterned and lavishly painted with layer upon layer of heavily bodied pigment. It is the celebration of paint that fuels the imagery.
The palette is one of color as light. Large scale and formatting allows the viewer to be a participant in the paintings, and become a presence within the landscape.
At first glance, the repetitive forms may be obscured by the complexity of the pattern, but upon close inspection images become clear and their meanings revealed.
The works on paper provide a more intimate experience for the viewer, and the imagery becomes more iconic. The paintings are vibrant, humorous and celebratory in nature.
